NHS Shared Business Services gains better insights with Exadata Database on OCI
The corporate services provider for the NHS saves hundreds of thousands a year with cloud automation and data integration for greater agility.
“OCI is improving our procedures by helping us to spin up proof of concepts much more quickly than we could in the past. It's also helping us to integrate data sources that allow us to pay suppliers more quickly, pay NHS staff accurately, and ultimately, provide insight back to our clinicians.”
England’s Shared Business Services for the health system distributes over £250 billion annually to support patient care. NHS SBS found that making changes to critical IT systems with a managed, on-premises service was cumbersome, expensive, and involved downtime. Migrating to Oracle Exadata Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) allowed staff to work more efficiently, with automated data integrations that accelerated supplier payments and increased payment accuracy. The more efficient and effective OCI data platform resulted in savings of around half a million pounds. It also provided the basis for a stronger, more cohesive finance service for the whole NHS.
